Synopsis
Modern Teaching Challenges, AI Solutions, and the Path Forward: Today’s classrooms face diverse learning needs and overwhelmed teachers. AI offers personalised learning and automated tasks, but risks undermining critical thinking and human connection. Moving forward requires balance. How do we navigate?

- Explain current and emerging uses of AI in health profession education and training
- Identify risks of over-reliance on AI and strategies to minimize deskilling
- Outline how preceptors and educators can equip themselves to mentor learners in the AI era
About The Speaker: Assistant Professor Chow Mingyang, Tan Tock Seng Hospital
Dr Chow Minyang is a clinical educator at Tan Tock Seng Hospital. He has concomitant appointments as Consultant at the Ministry of Health, Professional Training and Assessment Standards Division and Assistant Professor at the Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine. He leverages artificial intelligence, machine learning and learning analytics to enhance medical education and healthcare outcomes.
Dr Chow serves as the Associate Program Director of the Singapore Chief Residency Programme, Healthcare Leadership College at the Ministry of Health Holdings, where he focuses on developing future healthcare leaders. He works with TTSH Pre-Professional Education Office and NHG Residency on utilizing technology in education. He serves as the Associate Program Director of NHG Internal Medicine Residency Programme.
He has received numerous awards for his teaching and role modelling, including the NUS Medicine Special Recognition Award and the Dean’s Award for Teaching Excellence. Currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Health Professions Education at the MGH Institute of Health Professions, he holds a Master of Science in Health Professions Education from the same institute. He enjoys clinical practice as an internist and the challenges it entails.
