Drug Prices of Common Chronic Illnesses

Following our last update on the drug prices for common chronic diseases like high blood pressure, high blood lipids, asthma and diabetes (see here); we have updated the pricelist for your reference and also added another category of common anti-infectives/antibiotics to our listing.

Do feel free to make comparison and be informed, be responsible and take charge of your health matter; get to know your medications well and also their prices. Ask your pharmacist if you need more information or details.

The list of the commonly prescribed medications and their suggested retail price range is for general reference.

- Prices are obtained from the community pharmacy chains, not public hospital or polyclinic.
- Prices may differ due to varying volume of sales at different pharmacies.
- Prices could be subjected to change without prior notice.

Liak Teng Lit & Chew Kwee Tiang - Promotion Announcement

With effect from 01-Apr-2012, PSS Fellow Members - Mr Liak Teng Lit, who has been the Chief Executive Officer of KTPH, was promoted to to Group Chief Executive Officer of Alexandra Health System;  and Mrs. Chew Kwee Tiang, who has been the Chief Operating Officer of the KTPH, was promoted to Chief Executive Officer of the KTPH.

Prior to this appointment, Mr Liak was the CEO of Khoo Teck Puat Hospital from August 2010 and March 2012. He was instrumental in the planning and commissioning of the acute care hospital. He was also the CEO of Alexandra Hospital from October 2000 to July 2010, Changi General Hospital from January 1997 to January 2000 and Toa Payoh Hospital from February 1992 to December 1996.

 

Mrs Chew previously served as COO of the hospital from March 2010 to March 2012. From 2000 to 2009, Mrs Chew was Chief Operating Officer in Alexandra Hospital. She was a key member of the team that led change management at Alexandra Hospital in 2000. Prior to joining Alexandra Hospital, Mrs Chew worked in Guardian Pharmacy and the National University Hospital. She managed retail pharmacy, hospital pharmacy, pharmaceutical warehousing, distribution, overseas purchasing, advertising and promotion as well as clinical support and ambulatory services.

Both Mr. Liak and Mrs. Chew are pharmacist by training and have been the pioneering forces behind the transformation of pharmacy practice from the old era of public system to the restructured system which we are more familiar with today. 

On behalf of PSS and the Council, we would like to express our heartiest congratulations to both of them and hope that they continue to transform the healthcare system to meet the very different healthcare needs of the years ahead!

106th PSS Council Formed

Following the recent Annual General Meeting which was held in York Hotel on 17-Mar-2012, a new set of PSS Council has been formed to lead the 106th PSS Council. There were 12 nominations fielded for the 12 positions, and at the end of nomination, no additional candidates were nominated and thus all nominees were successfully elevated to helm the 106th PSS Council for 2012/13 Council Year. Ms Teng Bee Choon, Christine was unanimously elected President of the 106th Council of the Pharmaceutical Society of Singapore.
